EMPORIA, Kan. -- Blake Mozley collected three hits and drove in four runs, including the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning to help spark the Pittsburg State University baseball team to a 6-5 road win over Emporia State University Tuesday (Apr. 9) at Glennen Field.
The Gorillas (24-14, 14-10 MIAA) led 5-3 before the Hornets (16-23, 7-17 MIAA) scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to knot the score. ESU jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage before Pitt State scored three runs in the the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh.
Jake Grauberger doubled and scored on Mozley's one-out hit to left center field in the ninth inning to give the Gorillas their final lead of the game. Tanner Leslie (6-2) registered the final four outs to pick up the win in relief. Leslie, the last of five pitchers to take the mound in the game, allowed one hit and issued one walk while posting a pair of strikeouts.
Grauberger doubled twice and scored three runs in the game. Josh Holmes also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
