Macie Mays posted a career best 30 points to lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to an 88-56 victory over Northeastern State University Saturday (Jan. 4).

Mays shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, including four 3-pointers, to help the No. 14 ranked Gorillas (12-2, 4-0 MIAA) take control early against the visiting RiverHawks (5-8, 1-3 MIAA). She set a new Pitt State single game record by field goal percentage after Janet Clasen (1/31/84) and Janelle Klein (11/15/03) each converted nine of nine shots in a game.

Harper Schreiner also filled the stat sheet with 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while
Grace Pyle and
Karenna Gerber finished with 11 points apiece. Gerber also contributed nine rebounds and a blocked shot.

The Gorillas converted 56.4 percent of their shots from the floor in the game, knocking down 31 of 55 attempts. Pitt State out-rebounded NSU, 42-26.

Deyanna Douglas paced the RiverHawks with 15 points.

Pitt State will wrap up a three-game home stand by hosting Missouri Southern State University Tuesday (Jan. 7) at 5:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
