Jackson Berry has been selected the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week while junior placekicker
Austin Schmitt has been tabbed the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week.
Berry passed for a season high 296 yards and two touchdowns to help lead No. 8 Pittsburg State to a 48-35 road win over Central Missouri Saturday (Nov. 8). The Prosper, Texas native averaged 21.4 yards per completion in the contest, completing 14 of 26 passes overall. He tossed a 71-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tyjuan Atkins Jr. midway through the third quarter that gave the Gorillas a 35-21 edge. Berry also rushed the ball seven times for 39 net yards in the game. He has passed for 2,189 yards (218.9 ypg) and 11 touchdowns on the season.

Schmitt booted a pair of field goals and scored 12 points against the Mules. The Grain Valley, Mo., native connected on kicks of 30 and 42 yards in the fourth quarter to help the Gorillas hold off UCM's comeback bid. Schmitt has converted an NCAA Division II leading 17 field goals on the season. He has 38 career field goals to his credit. This is the fourth time in five weeks Schmitt has earned MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He also received the honors against Washburn on Oct. 11, Missouri Western on Oct. 25 and Missouri Southern on Nov. 1.
