PITTSBURG — Junior guard
Connor Rogers led five Pittsburg State University men's basketball players in double figures with 22 points as the Gorillas breezed to a 101-58 victory over Bethany College Sunday (Nov. 30).
Rogers finished with a game-high 24 points on six of 13 shooting from the field. He also knocked down all 12 of his free throw attempts as the Gorillas converted 22 of 27 charity shots in the game.
Redshirt junior forward
Donald Coats added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard
Mason English just missed a double-double, posting 13 points and nine assists on the afternoon.
Redshirt sophomore forward
Evan Jackson (14) and sophomore forward/center
Alijah Curry (10) also scored in double figures.
Pitt State (5-3) led by 10 points, 56-46, with 13:38 to play in the game, before rattling off 23 straight points to pull away from the Swedes.
Junior guard/forward Curtis Stovall III scored a team-leading 18 points for Bethany.
The Gorillas will open MIAA play Thursday (Dec. 4) by hosting the University of Central Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
