PITTSBURG — Sophomore guard
Clara Swearingen poured in a career best 20 points to help lead No. 2 ranked Pittsburg State University to a 66-46 victory over Angelo State University Sunday (Nov. 30).
Swearingen made seven of 16 shots from the floor, including a team-leading four 3-pointers, to pace the Gorillas' offensive attack. Freshman guard
Cambrie Phillips also finished in double figures with a season best 10 points.
Pitt State (4-1) bounced back from an 87-62 home loss to No. 8 Texas Woman's University Tuesday (Nov. 25) by limiting ASU (1-4) to 29.5 percent (18-61) shooting in the game. The Gorillas finished the game +11 in rebounding and outscored the Rambelles, 20-8, at the free throw line.

Kaycee McCumber added nine points and eight rebounds, while senior guard
Harper Schreiner posted six points, nine rebounds and four assists on the afternoon.
ASU got a team-leading 15 points and 11 rebounds from senior center Keniah Williams.
The Gorillas will open defense of their 2024-025 MIAA regular season title Thursday (Dec. 4) by hosting the University of Central Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
