PITTSBURG — Freshman guard
Marin Adams scored a season best 17 points to help lead the No. 8 ranked Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 73-51 victory over visiting Rogers State University Saturday (Dec. 6).
The Gorillas (6-1, 2-0 MIAA) broke open a tight game midway through the pivotal third period and breezed down the stretch against the Hillcats (2-7, 0-2 MIAA). Junior forward/center
Amanda Byrnes' layup with 3:50 to play triggered an 11-0 run by Pitt State to close out the frame.

Hannah Miller (11) also scored in double figures for the Gorillas. Adams, who made seven of 15 shots from the floor, also finished with seven rebounds and three assists.
Freshman center
Kaycee McCumber posted four points and a game-high 16 rebounds, her third double-digit rebounding game of the young season. Senior guard
Harper Schreiner also contributed nine points and 10 rebounds in the game.
Pitt State overcame a 32.4 percent shooting outing (23-71) by snaring 22 offensive rebounds a generating 18 second chance points. The Gorillas also outscored the Hillcats, 27-11, at the foul line.
Sophomore guard Kate Melton paced Rogers State with 14 points.
The Gorillas will return to action next Saturday (Dec. 13) when they travel to Hays, Kan., to face No. 3 ranked Fort Hays State University in a non-conference match-up at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
