Pitt State Squads Head to Arkansas Qualifier Friday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete at the University of Arkansas Qualifier Friday (Feb. 21).

Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. (CST) at the Tyson. The meet wraps up around 8 p.m.

The Arkansas Qualifier will serve as the final tune-up for the Gorillas before the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships, which will take place Feb. 28 – Mar. 1 at Maryville, Mo.

Pitt State athletes have three weeks of preparation before the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships take place Feb. 28 – Mar. 2 at Maryville, Mo.

The Pitt State men, the two-time defending NCAA Division II Indoor National Champions, climbed to No. 1 in this week's USTFCCCA Track & Field Ranking Index (TFRI). The Gorillas had been ranked second in the first three polls of the 2025 season. The Gorillas have three national leaders – Daylin Williams (60m hurdles, 7.78), the 4x400m relay (3:07.80) and the distance medley relay (9:35.14) – and eight national top five marks and 13 national top 10 marks to date.
 
The Pitt State women, the 2024 NCAA-II Indoor National Runners-Up, also climbed one spot to No. 2 in this week's poll. The Gorillas have been ranked No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 in all four polls this season. The Gorillas have eight national top five marks and 14 national top 10 marks on the season.
