EDMOND, Okla. - The Pittsburg State Unviersity baseball team began its weekend conference action against Central Oklahoma on Friday (Mar. 7) at Wendell Simmons Field, losing the opening game 5-4.
Pitt State (12-4, 1-3 MIAA) scored in the first inning off a
Dagen Brewer RBI fielders choice to second base, allowing
Alex Rodgers to score.
Nixon Brannan and
Kadyn Williams hit home runs in the fourth inning to push the Gorillas lead to 4-0. In the bottom half of the fourth inning Central Oklahoma (14-4, 5-2 MIAA) responded with a home run and RBI single to cut the lead in half. UCO went on to claim the game in the ninth inning with three runs.
Pittsburg State will be back in action tomorrow (Mar. 8) at 2:00 p.m. (CST) for game two of the weekend series against Central Oklahoma from Wendell Simmons Field.
