JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern State University baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally for a 12-9 win over Pittsburg State University Tuesday (Apr. 22) at Warren Turner Field.
The No. 19 ranked Gorillas (33-9, 21-9 MIAA) took a 9-7 lead to the final inning but the Lions (23-21, 15-15 MIAA) plated five runs on five hits in the decisive frame against PSU reliever
Cooper Crouch (3-2). Ethan Clarke's two-run single knotted the score at 9-9 and Treghan Parker smacked a three-run walkoff home run to end the contest.
Pitt State's
Dagen Brewer went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. His second inning home run -- his 19th round tripper of the season -- established a new Pitt State single season record.
Drew Bugner also delivered a two-run double in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 21 games, the second-longest streak in school history.
Nixon Brannan also had three hits in the game for the Gorillas.
