KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Seven members of the Pittsburg State University softball team earned All-MIAA honors Tuesday (Apr. 29).
Heather Arnett (SS) and Courtney Storey (OF) garnered first-team All-MIAA accolades, while Ava Laurent (P) and Kadyn Trochim (3B) earned second-team All-MIAA honors. Trochim also picked up an MIAA Gold Glove Award at the hot corner. Additionally, the trio of Aydenne Brown (P), Alleyna Rushing (OF) and Amaya Snyder (DP) received honorable mention All-MIAA recognition.
Arnett is a repeat first-team All-MIAA performer after earning the honor as an outfielder last season. This season she is hitting a Division II leading .503 with 89 hits (1st), 60 runs scored (7th), 40 stolen bases (8th), scoring 1.20 runs per game (8th), stealing .80 bases per game (18th), with a .526 on base percentage (22nd), .952 stolen base percentage (28th) and 117 total bases (33rd).
Storey earned first-team All-MIAA honors for the first time in her career in her second season with the Gorillas. This season she leads the team and ranks 28th in Division II for runs batted in with 53, averaging 1.10 RBI per game (26th) and is second in the division for sacrifice flys with seven. The .401 hitter has 61 hits, 28 runs scored, 14 doubles and 11 stolen bases this season.
Laurent was a first-team All-MIAA performer last season and earns her second All-MIAA honors of her career. This season she ranks 34th in the nation for hits allowed per 7 innings (5.09), 43rd for strikeouts per 7 innings (7.7) and 46th for strikeouts (148). Overall, the right-handed hurler is 16-5 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 134.2 innings of work as opponents hit .200 against her.
Trochim earned All-MIAA and Gold Glove honors for the first time in her Pitt State career. This season Trochim is hitting .306 with 45 hits, 40 RBI, 34 runs scored and 12 home runs (47th in Division II). Defensively at the hot corner she has a .947 fielding percentage from 57 assists, 33 putouts and five errors.
In her first season at Pittsburg State, Brown earned All-MIAA honors after a 15-6 record in 24 appearances in the circle. The right handed pitcher owns a 3.12 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 105.1 innings with opponents hitting .211 against her. Brown has struck out 122 batters this season and ranks 30th in Division II for strikeouts per 7 innings (8.1).
Rushing earns All-MIAA honors for the first time in her career at Pitt State after hitting .387 with 46 hits, 37 runs scored, 19 RBI and 16 stolen bases. The speedy outfielder on defense has a .980 fielding percentage with 49 putouts, one assist and one error.
Snyder for the first time in her PSU career earned All-MIAA honors after slashing .343/.433/.590. This season she has accounted for 36 hits, 31 RBI, 19 runs scored, drawing 15 walks, hitting seven doubles and five home runs.
