No. 23 Gorillas Sweep Northwest Missouri

PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University softball team sweep Northwest Missouri State University with twin 5-3 scorelines on Monday (Apr. 7) at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.

Game one would see Ava Laurent pick up her 12th win of the season, striking out four Bearcats (15-22, 5-11 MIAA) in a complete game effort. A Heather Arnett double to left center in the fifth inning proved to be the game winning hit with Trista Peterson and Kyleigh Lamont scoring to make it a 4-3 lead. Kadyn Trochim put the finishing touches on the game with her 11th home run of the season in the sixth.

To begin the scoring in game two Arnett hit her second home run of the season to center field, jump starting a three-run first frame for the Gorillas (29-9, 10-2 MIAA). Sophia Driver came away with two home runs in the game, both solo to increase her tally for the season to six. Aydenne Brown picked up her 13th win of the year with five strikeouts in six innings and Chelsea Beville delivered a shutout final frame for her second save.
