Kolby Dougan were selected as second-team NCAA Division II All-Americans by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association today (May 28), while four Gorillas – Brewer, Dougan,
Alex Rodgers and
Maddox Thornton – received All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Brewer, Dougan and Rodgers were tabbed first-team All-Region while Thornton was named to the second-team All-Region squad. The first-team All-Region selections now are eligible for ABCA All-America honors.
Brewer batted .380 with 54 runs scored, 19 doubles, 24 home runs and 78 RBI on the season. The Topeka native led the MIAA in home runs, RBI and slugging percentage (.866). Brewer set Pitt State records for single season home runs and single game RBI over the course of the season.He was a first-team All-MIAA selection. Brewer earned second-team All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) earlier this month.
Dougan posted an 8-1 record with a 2.76 ERA in 12 starts for the Gorillas this season. He posted 110 strikeouts in 71.2 innings pitched. The Topeka native is leading Division II in strikeouts (13.81 K/9 IP) and WHIP (0.86). He led the MIAA in both categories as well as opponent batting average (.154). Dougan was a first-team All-MIAA selection and the MIAA Co-Pitcher of the year. Dougan also earned second-team All-America from the NCBWA.
Rodgers (Omaha, Neb.) posed a .359/.504/.530 slash line for the Gorillas. He scored a Pitt State record 77 runs and tallied 30 stolen bases, both MIAA leading totals. Rodgers also smacked 10 doubles, six triples and four home runs on the season. He ranked in the top 10 in Division II in runs and triples. Rodgers also garnered second-team All-Region accolades from the NCBWA.
Thornton (Bentonville, Ark.) posted a 10-2 record with a 3.36 ERA in 16 starts for the Gorillas. He registered 81 strikeouts in 99.0 innings pitches. Thornton posted an MIAA-leading 10 victories on the season. He also earned second-team All-Region honors from the NCBWA.
