Gorillas Earn No. 2 Seed For 2025 MIAA Baseball Championships

Pitt State to Begin Tournament Thursday in Joplin, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Pittsburg State University baseball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship in Joplin, Mo.

The No. 15 ranked Gorillas (39-9, 27-9 MIAA) wrapped up the regular season going 18-2 in the final 20 games, tying the school record for wins in a season in the process.

Pitt State will travel to Joplin, Mo., to compete in the 10-team single elimination MIAA Baseball Championships on the campus of Missouri Southern State University beginning on Thursday (May 8) in the quarterfinal round at 4:00 p.m. (CDT) at Warren Turner Field.

The opponent for the Gorillas will be the second lowest advancing seed from the opening round of games on Wednesday, from the quartet of No. 7 seed Washburn, No. 8 seed Missouri Southern, No. 9 seed Emporia State and No. 10 seed Northeastern State.

Semifinal games on Friday (May 9) will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., with the championship game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (May 10).

The 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship winner will earn the automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division II National Tournament.

In the latest Central Region rankings announced by the NCAA on Wednesday (Apr. 30), the Gorillas were ranked No. 2.
