Four Pitt State Men's Track & Field Athletes Claim Academic All-America® Honors

AUSTIN, Texas — Four members of the Pittsburg State University men's cross country/track & field program garnered Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators today (July 16).

Graduate student Mason Strader was selected to the first-team Academic All-America® squad, while graduate student Matthew Oglesby and redshirt sophomore Dylan Sprecker were tabbed to the second-team Academic All-America® squad. Sophomore Braylon Thompson claimed third-team Academic All-America® honors.

Strader has a 4.00 grade-point-average while pursuing a master's degree in Health, Human Performance & Recreation. The Holton, Kan., native finished his decorated career as an 11-time NCAA Division II All-American in track & field. He twice helped Pitt State's distance medley relay to national championships in 2021 and most recently this past March. Strader also garnered first-team Academic All-America® honors in 2023-24.

Oglesby, who has a 4.00 GPA in business administration (MBA), capped his career as a three-time NCAA-II All-American in cross country. The Galena, Kan., native placed 16th overall at the 2024 NCAA-II Cross Country National Championships, helping Pitt State to a seventh-place team finish. Oglesby becomes a four-time Academic All-America® recipient. He earned second-team honors last year and third-team recognition in 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Sprecker currently has a 3.87 GPA as an exercise science major. The Gypsum, Kan., native is a five-time All-America performer. He raced on Pitt State's national champion distance medley relay this past winter and earned All-America honors in both the mile and the 1,500 meters. This is the first time Sprecker has earned Academic All-America® honors.

Thompson has a 4.00 GPA as a marketing major. The Tulsa, Okla., native helped Pitt State's 4x100m relay win the MIAA Championship in the discipline and set the school record as well earlier this spring. This is Thompson's first Academic All-America® accolades.
