HAYS, Kan. - The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team ended the first weekend of MIAA action with a 1-0 win over Fort Hays State on the road at the FHSU Soccer Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 28).
For Pitt State (6-1-1, 1-0-1 MIAA),
Abby Hoffman scored her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute. Hoffman ended a quick attacking exchange that began with an
Annie Payne pass down the right wing to
Ella Cazzavillan, Cazzavillan then cut inside and squared it to Hoffman, who shot it with her left foot outside the box towards the bottom right corner of the goal.
The Gorillas dominated the match, taking 17 shots, seven of which were on target and 12 corner kicks. Fort Hays State (2-4-1, 0-1-1 MIAA) did not register any shots or corner kicks in the 90 minutes of action.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the Rogers State University Hillcats on Friday (Oct. 3), kickoff from the Gorilla Soccer Pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. (CT).
