PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team will begin the 2025 season on the road against Missouri – St. Louis before hosting Missouri S&T this weekend.
The Gorillas begin the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. (CDT) start from the Don Dallas Soccer Field on Thursday (Sept. 4) against UMSL. Against Missouri S&T, Saturday (Spet. 7) will be the home opener for Pitt State at 4:00 p.m., at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
Picked to finish seventh in the MIAA Coaches Poll, Pittsburg State is led by second-year head coach
Wes Branstetter. The Gorillas have three returners that earned All-MIAA honors a season ago;
Sailor Jensen,
Avianna Gonzalez and
Jadyn Newell.
Newell is the leading returner for points (7), shots (21) and shots on goal (14).
Ryann Caruth,
Adriana Delgado and
Dylann Ehegartner each dished out two assists last season.
Jocelyn Kramar was the leading goalkeeper, posting a 1.08 GAA and 70 saves in 1253:48 minutes.
Picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Preseason Poll, the Tritons of Missouri – St. Louis will be led by first-year head coach Stephen Cavallo. Josie Maddox is the leading contributor from a season ago with 18 points, seven goals, 51 shots and 26 shots on goal. Aubrie Wallace and Maddox both provided four assists last season to lead all returners. All-GLVC selection Mary Kate Neal is back between the sticks after recording a 0.79 GAA, 72 saves and 10 shutouts last season in 1820:00 minutes.
Missouri S&T was picked to finish ninth in the GLVC Preseason Poll as Matthew Perry enters his second season leading the Miners. Greycen Erisman is the top returner for points (11), assists (5), shots (19) and shots on goal (9). Melissa Parker leads the returners with four goals while being second among returners for points (10) and assists (2). Anastasia Barcom is back at goalkeeper after finishing last season with a 1.77 GAA and 77 saves in 1117:30 minutes.
