BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2025 campaigns at the Southwest Baptist University Bearcat Invitational Friday (Sept. 5).
Both Gorillas squads withheld several runners from competition. The Pitt State women finished fifth overall among nine competing schools with 109 points, while the Pitt State men placed seventh with 148 points. Missouri Southern State University claimed victory in both races.
In the women's five-kilometer race, the Gorillas were paced by
Emily Vandaveer's 16th place showing. She was clocked in 19 minutes, 11.71 seconds.
Kelsey Bruening (19:19.83) and
Caitlin White (19:23.57) finished 17th and 20th, respectively.
In the men's four-mile race,
Houston McGown paced the Gorillas in 20:24.42, placing 13th among individuals.
Liam Kirkpatrick (20:49.81) and
Kade Meinke (21:04.99) finished 30th and 32nd overall in the race.
