Amariah White made double-double history in a five set win over Rockhurst Tuesday (Oct. 6) inside John Lance Arena.
The trio each recorded kill-block double-doubles, marking the first time in program history to have three individuals within the same match complete the feat. Never before in Pitt State (12-6) history had a trio of teammates finished a match with double figure total block tallies entering today.
Smith led the team with 13 total blocks, adding in 10 kills (.444); LaPointe led the Gorillas with 16 kills (.455) to go with 11 total blocks for a team-high 21.5 points; White led the team with a .579 hitting percentage from 11 kills in 19 attempts and no errors while also having 11 total blocks.
Vix Vilott and
Maliyah Johnson each finished with seven kills and hit above .280 for the match.
Jesa Wallace (36) and
Brynna Zoeller (15) split setting duties as
Kassidy Nixon finished with a team-high 11 digs. As a team PSU collected a season-high 24 total blocks as a team, while hitting a season-best .386.
The Gorillas claimed the match with set scores of 22-25, 25-12, 25-14, 19-25, 15-8. Rockhurst (11-5) saw their 10-game winning streak snap and the Gorilas 5-game losing skid ended.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be a road weekend against Arkansas - Fort Smith (Oct. 9) and Northeastern State (Oct. 10) in MIAA action.
