VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. –
Jazmine Williamson and the men's distance medley relay each captured individual event national championships to highlight day one action in the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships for the top-ranked Pittsburg State University women's and men's indoor track & field teams Friday (Mar. 13).
The Pitt State women recorded five individual event All-America performances and the Gorillas exited day one action in first place in the team standings with 27 points. Ashland sits in second place with 18 points.
The Pitt State men added three All-America efforts and totaled 14 points to sit in a tie for fifth place in the team standings with Wingate. Grand Valley State (27), UIndy (18), Hillsdale (16) and Harding (15) hold the top four spots.
Williamson tied the Pitt State record with her winning clearance of 5 feet, 10.75 inches in the high jump. She added a fourth-place All-America finish in the long jump, posting a best mark of 20-1.
Blakelee Winn also placed third in the long jump at 20-2.5 and
Paige Mullen finished fifth in the 5,000 meters in 16 minutes, 21.48 seconds.
Bethany Umbarger added a seventh-place All-America finish in the high jump (5-8).
The men's DMR of
Jordan Kilonzo, Amar Willias,
Eli Gilmore and
Dylan Sprecker won an electric duel with second-place UIndy, edging the Greyhounds relay in a photo finish. The Gorillas crossed the finish line in 9:39.95 (.942) while UIndy was clocked in 9:39.95 (.946).
The men also picked up All-America performances by Greyson Smith and
Braylon Brown in the pole vault. Smith placed sixth (16-11) and Brown finished eighth (16-11).
In women's qualifying races,
Kayvon Nubine advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a prelim time of 8.36 seconds.
For the men,
Tyrone Jackson (7.82) and
Na'Koriyon James (7.95) advanced to finals of the 60m hurdles;
Ilias Garcia posted the fastest time in prelims of the 60 meters (6.66); Sprecker qualified to the finals of the mile run (4:06.94);
Caden Williams advanced in the 400 meters (46.76); and
Braylon Thompson qualified to the finals of the 200 meters (21.21).
Additionally,
Leo Chauchard (3,104 pts) and
Drew Wilhite (2,982 pts) exited day one action in the men's heptathlon in third and sixth place, respectively. Chauchard sits nine points behind day one leader Joel Brown of Walsh.
In other action Friday action,
Jack Haukap (65-0.5) and
Drake Stapleton (63-0) placed 13
th and 17
th in the men's weight throw.
Isaiah Webster finished ninth in the men's long jump (23-7.5).
Rachel Wilson placed 13
th in the women's high jump (5-6) and
Abby Lasiter finished 18
th in the women's weight throw (52-10.75).
For the men,
Griouard Weddington posted times of 6.73 in the 60m and 21.26 in the 200m; Kemmari Stewart was clocked in 6.75 in the 60m;
Nate Watson was clocked in 47.40 in the 400m; and
Logan Davis was DQ'd from the 400m race.
Zyra Shivers ran a time of 8.63 in the women's 60m hurdles.
Day two action in the 2026 NCAA-II Indoor National Championships starts at 9 a.m. (CDT) at the Virginia Beach Sports Center with women's pentathlon. The conclusion of the men's heptathlon begins at 10 a.m., while the full meet opens at 11 a.m.
