Blecha, Gorillas Blank Bronchos in Series Finale

PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg State University's Ty Blecha tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout to help propel the Gorillas to an 11-0 run-rule victory over the University of Central Oklahoma Sunday (Mar. 22) at Al Ortolani Field.

The win helped Pitt State, ranked No. 1 in the writer's poll and No. 2 in the coaches poll, improve to 25-3 on the season (14-3 MIAA). The visiting Bronchos slipped to 13-14 overall (4-9 MIAA).

Blecha (2-1) needed just 89 pitches to keep the UCO offense at bay Sunday. He allowed just five base runners via three hits and two walks, but he was aided by a pair of double plays in the contest. He registered one strikeout.

Eric Bacon went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI to pace the Gorillas 14-hit attack. Grant Nottlemann also went 2-for-3 with a bases clearing double and four RBI overall. Dagen Brewer and Seth Dandridge also had doubles in the game.

Pitt State will return to action Wednesday (Mar. 25) by hosting MIAA rival Missouri Southern State University in a midweek match-up at 3 p.m. (CDT).
