PITTSBURG -- The Augustana University baseball team plated runs in each of the first five innings, including a three-run fourth and a two-run fifth frame, to build an early lead and eventually hold off Pittsburg State University, 13-7, Sunday (May 17).
The No. 17 ranked Vikings (45-14) posted back-to-back wins over the third-ranked Gorillas Saturday and Sunday to complete a 4-1 run through the four-team NCAA Division II Central Regional pod and advance to the D2 Super Regionals. Augie will now face the University of Central Missouri in a best two-of-three game Super Regional Series May 22-24 at Warrensburg, Mo. Pitt State ends its record-breaking season with a 45-11 overall record.

Pitt State trailed by margins of 3-0 and 6-1 before the Gorillas broke loose with a three-run fifth inning to trim the deficit to 6-4.
Landon Bruce and
Eric Bacon had RBI singles in the frame and
Jadyn McNealy added a run-scoring grounder.
Augie responded with a two-run sixth and the Vikings broke the game open with a five-run seventh inning
Bacon doubled and homered in a three-hit game, driving in two runs on the afternoon.
Cooper Wesslund also had a pair of hits.
Jackson Murry (2-1) took the loss on the mound. He allowed two runs in 1.1 innings of work. Preston GIltner,

Bradley Neill pitched behind Murry in the game.
