EDMOND, Okla. — The Pittsburg State University baseball team flexed its collective muscle to power past Northwest Missouri State University in the semifinals of the the 2026 MIAA Baseball Championship Friday (May 8).
The top-seeded Gorillas pounded out three home runs and seven extra-base hits in powering to a 21-11 run-rule victory over the Bearcats. Pitt State will await the winner of the second semifinal match-up between No. 6 Emporia State University and No. 7 Missouri Western State University in Saturday's 2026 MIAA Baseball Championship Final at 1 p.m. (CDT).
Pitt State (42-9) jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings, weathered a six-run top of the third from NWMSU (36-16) and tacked on five runs in its half of the third and seven more runs in the fourth to reassert control of the game.
Dagen Brewer homered and drove in four runs to eclipse the MIAA single season RBI mark. He exited the game with 99 runs driven in on the season. UCM's Rick Ladjevich set the previous record of 97 RBI in 1994.
Cooper Wesslund led the potent Pitt State offense Friday, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI.
Isaac Webb also went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
Zach Voss (11-2) picked up with 11
th win of the season on the mound. He worked around eight hits and a walk in 5.0 innings of work.
Preston Giltner pitched 2.0 innings of relief behind Voss.
