PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team will begin the second week of the season at home and end with the first road match of 2026.
 
Kickoff from the Gorilla Soccer Pitch on Wednesday (Sept. 1) against Quincy is set for 10:45 a.m. (CT). On Saturday (Sept. 5) the Gorillas will travel to Bethany, Okla., to take on Southern Nazarene at the Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex at 3:00 p.m.
 
Pitt State (2-0) scored a 5-0 opening match win over preseason No. 9 Missouri – St. Louis (Aug. 27) before completing the first weekend of action with a 6-0 victory over East Central (Aug. 30) at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
 
The MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, Ryann Caruth finished with three goals (2^nd in DII) and one assist for seven points (3^rd) last weekend. Sarah Peyton Webb in her first two games as a Gorilla is tied for the NCAA Division II Statical lead with three assists and was tabbed the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts. Carrie Cunningham (2 G, 1 A), Sammie Edwards (1 G, 2 A), Avianna Gonzalez (1 G, 2 A) and Abby Hoffman (1 G, 1 A) contributed a goal or an assist in each match so far in the season. In goal, Jocelyn Kramar (4 SV) and Sabrina Schilt have combined for two shutout performances in the opening 180 minutes of action.
 
This will be the first match against Quincy for the Gorillas and the third meeting between Southern Nazarene and Pittsburg State. SNU claimed a 2-0 win in 2024 in Bethany and in 2025 the Gorillas won 1-0 thanks to a Macy Malik 55^th minute goal.
 
Quincy University Hawks
QU enters the week with a 0-0-2 record after tying Purdue Northwest (1-1) and Davenport (2-2) at home.

Goal scorers from the opening weekend were Rebecca Rheinheimer (2 G) and Marina Oberschmid (1 G) with Jessie Newton picking up a pair of assists. Devin Tracy through 180 minutes of action has allowed three goals and recorded nine saves in goal.
 
Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm
First-year head coach, Jovan Petrovic and the Crimson Storm opened the season with a 1-1 tie against Augustana (S.D.) on Friday (Aug. 28) at home. SNU was picked to finish fifth in the Great American Conference (GAC) Preseason Poll (Aug. 20) after going 6-9-3 overall and 4-6-2 in the GAC.

Danika Womack scored the lone goal of the season so far for the Crimson Storm in what was the only shot of goal of the match for the team. Madaline Bailey recorded four saves in 90 minutes in goal against AU.
