PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team began the 2026 Gorilla Classic with a sweep over the Truman State University Bulldogs on Wednesday (Sept. 2) inside John Lance Arena.
The Gorillas (5-0) claimed the match with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 to beat TSU (1-4).
Madi LaPointe finished with a match-high 15 kills in 34 attempts (.353 hitting percentage), accounting for a team-high 16.5 points with three total blocks.
Maliyah Johnson rounded out the Gorillas in double figures for kills with 10 in 24 attempts (.375).
Crystal Smith accounted for 12.5 points from a match-high seven total blocks, paired with eight kills from 12 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.
Jesa Wallace (27) and Brynna Zoller (16) were the leading assisters of the night while
Mason Palace collected a team-high 14 digs.
