PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will begin the week on the road against Emporia State University in non conference action before ending the weekend at home against Washburn University in MIAA play.

First serve from W.L. White Auditorium on Tuesday (Sept. 29) against ESU is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT). Friday (Oct. 2) the Gorillas will host WU at 6:00 p.m., at John Lance Arena.

Entering the weekend, Pittsburg State is 11-4 overall and 0-3 in MIAA play, on the road the Gorillas are 2-2 and 3-2 at home so far this season. As a team, PSU is hitting .262 with 13.3 kills a set, defensively the Gorillas are averaging 3.25 blocks a set to lead Division II.

Crystal Smith the team and DII with 1.68 blocks (89) a set, while accumulating 4.25 points (225.5) from 3.11 kills (165) at a .419 hitting percentage. Maddi LaPointe is second on the team for points (193.5, 3.39) and kills (163, 2.86) while being third among team ranks for hitting percentage (.277) and total blocks (57, 1.00). Vix Vilott (118), Mason Palace (105) and Maliyah Johnson (103) are other members of the team to collect more than 100 kills so far this season. Jesa Wallace (355, 6.23) and Brynna Zoeller (251, 4.65) have split setting duties this season. Kassidy Nixon (209, 3.80), Palace (149, 2.71) and Wallace (126, 2.21) lead the team in digs.

Emporia State University
ESU enters the week with a 14-2 overall record and is 2-1 in MIAA play. On Sept. 18th, Emporia State claimed a five set win over PSU in Pittsburg in MIAA play to end the first weekend of conference action for both teams. Tuesday will mark the first home match of the season for the Hornets who are 6-2 on the road and 8-0 at neutral sites.

Lavra Krizanic leads the team with 222.5 points (4.05) from 194 kills (3.53) at a .236 hitting percentage. Brailee Bogle (419, 7.35) and Delainee Dexter (207, 3.63) split setting duties. Miyu Tsurumaki leads the team with 267 digs and Brooklynn Weaver with 39 total blocks (0.71) rounds out the team leaders.

Washburn University
WU will begin the weekend with a 14-3 overall record, going 3-1 in MIAA action so far this season. On the road this season, the Ichabods are 3-0 in non conference action. 

Emma Siron leads the team with 214.5 points (4.13) with 182 kills (3.50) at .216. The reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, Brynne Topolski leads the team with 193 kills (3.51) and a .327 hitting percentage. Shannon Frakes (539, 10.37) and Lauren Tyler (127, 6.05) have split setting duties this season, Frakes leads the MIAA for assists per set. Taylor Rottinghaus is the team leader with 248 digs (4.86) and Brooklyn Morrissey leads the team with 56 total blocks (1.06).
