EMPORIA, Kan. - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team fell in three sets on the road against the Emporia State University Hornets Tuesday (Sept. 29) at W.L. White Auditorium in non conference action.
For the 17th ranked Hornets (15-2, 2-1 MIAA) they claimed the match with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-23. As a team, Pittsburg State (11-5, 0-3 MIAA) finished the match hitting .213 with 37 kills and a season-low five total blocks.
Crystal Smith led the Gorillas with 11.5 points from 10 kills and was one of three members of the team to accumulate two total blocks.
Amariah White finished with a match-high .636 hitting percentage with seven kills in 11 attempts.

Brynna Zoeller (12) split setting duties. Zoeller (8),
Mason Palace (7),
Kassidy Nixon (5) and
Alexis Bittner (5) were the leading performers for digs.
Lavra Krizanic finished with a match-high 16.5 points from 15 kills (.387). Brailee Bogle (24) and Delainee Dexter (16) split setting duties, and Miyu Tsurumaki finished with a match-high 19 digs.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be No. 14 Washburn University Ichabods on Friday (Oct. 2) in MIAA play. First serve from John Lance Arena is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
