Biography

General: Fifth-year player… coming off a big redshirt sophomore season where he garnered first-team All-MIAA honors… expected to be an impact performer for the Gorillas again this fall… has compiled 70 career tackles (57 solo) with 18.0 tackles-for-loss and 13.5 quarterback sacks.

In 2019-22: Started 10 of 13 games played… registered 39 tackles (24 solo) with a team-leading 15.0 tackles-for-loss and 10.5 quarterback sacks… ranked among the MIAA leaders in tackles-for-loss and QB sacks… also ranked in the top 25 nationally in sacks… earned first-team All-MIAA honors… started seven of 11 games played in 2021… posted 29 tackles (22 solo) with 3.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 quarterback sacks and four pass breakups… saw action in all four games in 2020… made 12 tackles (six solo) and one fumble recovery… redshirted in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2019).

In High School: A second-team Missouri Class 6A All-State selection as a senior at Lee’s Summit North High School in 2018… made 77 tackles (60 solo) with 27 tackles-for-loss and 14 quarterback sacks as a senior for the Broncos.

Personal: Born May 21, 2001… son of Gilbert and Onyinye Okonkwo… a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… has a 3.24 GPA as a nursing major.
