Lynn Farrell played basketball and competed in track & field at Pittsburg State in the early 1950s, then served as an assistant basketball coach under John Lance at PSU in 1956, before going on to enjoy a decorated career as basketball coach and athletic director at Hastings (Neb.) College. Farrell posted a 464-204 (.695) record in 24 years as head basketball coach at Hastings, winning 15 conference titles and five NAIA District 11 championships. He was elected president of the NABC in 1980 and served on the U.S. Olympic Coaches & Players Selection Committee. Farrell retired from Hastings College after 26 years of service (1962-88) in 1988.

Rex Garner (1975-76)

Rex Garner finished a two-year career at PSU as the fourth-leading rusher in school history, despite appearing in just 19 games for the Gorillas. Garner rushed for 1,786 yards and 12 touchdowns on 385 carries, twice earning first-team NAIA All-District 10 and honorable mention NAIA All-America honors. He carried the ball 185 times for 931 yards (5.0 ypc) and seven touchdowns as a junior in 1975. As a senior in 1976, he carried the ball 200 times for 855 yards (4.3 ypc) and five touchdowns.

LaTonya (McGee) Mekha (1983-86)

LaTonya McGee completed her basketball career as a two-time first-team NAIA All-District 10 performer for the Gorillas. The Kansas City, Kan., native scored 909 career points and pulled down 479 rebounds in 57 games, averaging 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. McGee earned first-team All-CSIC and first-team NAIA All-District 10 honors as a sophomore in 1983-84 and again as a junior in 1985-86, after missing the 1984-85 season due to a knee injury. She pulled down a school-record 272 rebounds during her senior year, leading the CSIC in rebounding.

Tim L. Sinclair (1987-90)

Tim Sinclair earned second-team NCAA Division II All-America honors as a senior in 1990, capping a four-year career for the Gorillas. He twice earned first-team All-MIAA honors as the starting center for PSU (1989-90), after moving to the offensive line after two seasons as a defensive lineman. Sinclair started the 1989 season as a back-up offensive guard, before becoming the starting center in week five. He started all 13 games at center for the Gorillas in 1990, earning second-team All-America honors from Football Gazette.

Bob Wooton (1955-58)

Bob Wooton finished a decorated track & field career as a six-time Central Intercollegiate Conference champion in the sprints. Wooton was only twice defeated in either the 100-yard dash or the 220-yard dash in CIC competition. He captured both 100 and 220-yard CIC titles from 1955-57, before finishing second in both events as a senior in 1958. Wooton also was a member of PSU’s CIC champion mile relay squad in 1958, and he helped the Gorillas place second in the mile relay at the CIC Championships from 1955-57.
