John "Smokey" Brown, 2011-13

John Brown finished his illustrious career as a three-time NCAA Division II All-America wide receiver and return specialist for the Gorillas. Brown was a consensus All-America pick his final two seasons; and he was twice tabbed the MIAA and the NCAA-II Special Teams Player of the Year (2012-13). Brown set PSU career records with 185 receptions for 3,387 yards and 34 touchdowns. He caught 61 passes for 1,216 yards and 12 TDs while helping the Gorillas to the 2011 NCAA-II National Championship.

 

Amanda Davied, 2000-03

Amanda Davied finished her decorated playing career as a three-time All-MIAA performer for the Gorillas. Davied scored 1,229 points in 109 career games, averaging 11.3 points per game. She earned first-team All-MIAA honors as a senior in 2003 when she averaged 15.2 points and dished out a single season record 157 assists (5.6 apg). Davied also set PSU records for career assists (553) and career free throw percentage (.844, 313-371); and she posted the fifth-highest totals in school history for career steals (195) and 3-point field goals (118).


Roddy Gaynor, 1980-81

Roddy Gaynor finished his decorated career as a three-time NAIA All-America middle distance runner for the Gorillas. Gaynor placed third overall in the 1,000 meters at the 1981 NAIA Indoor National Championships after placing fourth in the discipline in 1980. He also placed fourth in the 880-yard run at the 1981 NAIA Outdoor National Championships. A multiple-time All-Conference performer, Gaynor set the PSU indoor record in the 600-yard run (1:13.14).


Jeremy Jackson, 2008-10

Jeremy Jackson finished his marquee career with the Gorillas as a four-time NCAA Division II All-America in the hurdles. Jackson captured the NCAA Division II National Championship in the 60m hurdles in 2010 and he finished as the national runner-up in the 60mH in 2008 and in the 110mH in 2010. A three-time MIAA Champion, Jackson earned All-MIAA honors seven times with three individual crowns and four MIAA runner-up performances. He also posted 96 career tackles in two seasons as a linebacker in football for the Gorillas (2007, ’09).


Mickey Joel Nichol, 2003-05

Mickey Nichol earned third-team NCAA Division II All-America honors as an outfielder for the Gorillas as a senior in 2005. A two-time All-MIAA performer, Nichol was selected the 2005 MIAA Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He posted a .407 career batting average with 19 home runs and 96 RBIs in 100 career games for the Gorillas. Nichol hit .459 with 59 runs scored, 14 home runs and 56 RBI during his senior campaign in 2005. He logged the second-best single season batting average in school history and his career batting average ranks fourth all-time.


Joseph Mark Smith, 2004-08

Mark Smith finished his decorated career as a two-time NCAA Division II All-America quarterback for the Gorillas. Smith garnered honorable mention All-America accolades in each of his final two seasons (2007-08). He also twice received All-MIAA honors, including being named the first-team All-MIAA QB as a junior in 2007. Smith passed for 5,190 yards and 40 touchdowns, rushed for 2,364 yards and 29 TDs and compiled a 24-6 record as the Gorillas starter. His rushing total ranks second in school history among quarterbacks.

Travis U. Stepps, 1997-2001
Fort Scott, Kansas

Travis Stepps finished his distinguished career as a two-time NCAA Division II All-America defensive back for the Gorillas. Stepps garnered second-team All-America accolades as a junior in 2000 and again as a senior in 2001. He also received All-MIAA in all four of his playing seasons, including first-team honors in his junior and senior campaigns. Stepps posted seven interceptions and 28 pass breakups, ranking second in school history in career PBUs and passes defended.


Gary Dean Wilson, 1963-66
Leon, Kansas

Gary Wilson earned honorable mention NAIA All-America honors as a running back as a senior for the Gorillas in 1966. Wilson also garnered first-team All-Central Intercollegiate Conference (CIC) and NAIA All-District 10 accolades during his senior season when he rushed for  534 yards and led the CIC in scoring with 81 points. All total, he compiled 1,382 career rushing yards and 167 career points. Additionally, Wilson claimed All-CIC honors six times in track & field, including capturing the CIC crown in the 330-yard hurdles in 1965.
