Pittsburg State Gorillas

Fourth-year player... a hard worker who emerged as a frontline player the last two seasons… coming off a solid fall camp… expected to assume the starting role at shortstop for the third straight year this spring.
 
In 2013: Started all 53 games, primarily at shortstop… batted .299 with 10 doubles and four homeruns on the season… was second on the team with 40 RBIs… went 5-for-5 with a triple, homer, three RBIs and three runs scored in the season opener vs. Maryville (Feb. 16).
 
In 2012: Started all 48 games for the Gorillas, mostly at shortstop…batted .319 with five doubles and six homers…led the team with 32 RBIs, 51 runs scored and seven steals… enjoyed 14 multi-hit games… reached base safely in each of his final 12 games… went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs vs. Washburn (Mar. 12).

In 2011: Saw action in 33 games, including 14 starts, primarily in the outfield... batted .258 with three doubles and 12 RBIs... enjoyed four multiple-hit games, including a 3-for-5 effort vs. Fort Hays State (Apr 3).

In High School: A first-team All-State performer as a senior at Newton High (2010)... a three-time All-League selection for the Railers... batted .508 with two HRs and 29 RBIs as a senior, helping NHS to a 19-3 record.

Personal: Born April 22, 1992… son of Eric Thomas and Terri Monares… a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… has a 3.43 GPA as a biology major.
