D.J. Steward

D.J. Steward begins his first season as a member of the Pitt State coaching staff. He serves as the Gorillas wide receivers coach.

Steward came to Pitt State from the University of Dayton, where he served as assistant coach – wide receivers since March 2021.
 
He served as a graduate assistant coach at Ball State University from March 2020 – March 2021, helping the Cardinals to the 2020 MAC Championship and a victory in the 2020 Arizona Bowl.
 
Steward also served as offensive coordinator at Second Baptist High School in Houston, Texas, during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. He helped the squad to a 23-3 combined record those years as well as a pair of district titles.
 
Steward started his coaching career as an assistant coach - running backs at his alma mater, DePauw University in 2017. The St. Louis, Mo., native played wide receiver for the Tigers for four years, from 2011-14.

Steward earned a bachelor's of arts degree in philosophy from DePauw in 2015.
