Jamahl DePriest begins his fourth year as an assistant coach in the Pittsburg State University men's basketball program in 2025-26. DePriest joined head coach Jeff Boschee from his staff at Missouri Southern State University.
DePriest served two stints as an assistant coach at MSSU. He served as the top assistant for the Lions during the 2021-22 season, returning to Joplin, Mo., after a four-year stretch as an assistant at Newman University (2017-18 to 2020-21). DePriest also served as an assistant at MSSU during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons under Boschee.

During his time with Boschee and the Lions, DePriest helped coach an All-American, an MIAA Freshman of the Year and nine all-conference performers. He also helped Newman post a 20-9 record during the 2018-19 campaign; and he coached seven all-conference performers during his four-year tenure.

Prior to his first stint at MSSU, DePriest spent one year as an assistant at NAIA member Langston University. He began his coaching career with two seasons as an assistant at Coffeyville Community College from 2012-13 to 2013-14, helping the Red Ravens compile a 55-12 overall record.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., DePriest earned a bachelor's degree in health science from William Penn University, where he played his final two collegiate seasons. He also played two years at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa.
