Dr. Mike Zafuta begins his 22nd year at Pittsburg State University as a team physician.
 
Dr. Zafuta attended Pittsburg State for his undergraduate education, earning a bachelor's degree in 1990. He received his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, in 1994, graduating with high honors.

Zafuta performed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas-Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, from 1994-99. From 1999-2000, he did a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo., helping provide care for the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and the U.S. Ski Team.

Dr. Zafuta is board certified as well as a member of multiple medical and orthopaedic societies.

Mike and his wife, Karleigh, have three children:  Hannah, Adam and Makenzie. The Zafutas reside in Pittsburg.
