Phil Carr begins his 28th year as a full-time member of the Pittsburg State University Athletic Department Staff. He has served as an Associate Athletic Director for 12 years and begins his first year as Associate Athletic Director / Risk Management. Carr served for 27 years as the department's Head Athletic Trainer.
Prior to joining the PSU staff, Carr was head athletic trainer at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., for 10 years.
Carr received his bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Southwestern, before earning a master’s degree from Pittsburg State in 1984. He served as a graduate assistant for PSU Hall of Fame trainer Al Ortolani for two years (1983-84).
Carr, a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, has served on the training staff at the NAIA National Track & Field Championships six times. He also served on the U.S. Athletic Training staff at the 1990 Pan American Games.
Phil and his wife, Sonja, have two adult children: Cameron and Colby. The Carrs reside in Pittsburg.
