KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University sophomore running back Jeff Seybold, Jr. was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week Monday (Oct. 28) after helping the 12th-ranked Gorillas to a 34-14 road win over previously unbeaten and fourth-ranked Missouri Western State University Saturday.
Seybold, Jr. carried the ball a career-high 24 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns against the Griffons. The Lincoln, Neb., native scored on a 23-yard run in the second quarter and he added runs of 3 and 6 yards in the second half as the Gorillas pulled away from Western after leading 13-7 at halftime.
Seybold (5-11, 208), who leads the MIAA with 16 total touchdowns on the season, also caught two passes for 26 yards in the contest.
For the season, he has rushed the ball 141 times for 910 yards (6.5 ypc), averaging 113.8 yards per game.
