PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Gorilla women's basketball team picked up a low-scoring, 51-44, win in a non-conference game over MIAA foe Northwest Missouri on Sunday afternoon in John Lance Arena.

Though it was not the best shooting night for the Gorillas, who shot just .274 for the game overall and only .105 from long range, the team was outstanding on the glass, pulling down more rebounds, 45, than the Bearcats had points, 44. Pitt State had the same amount of defensive rebounds as Northwest, but added 20 offense rebounds, compared to just eight Bearcat offensive rebounds.

The Gorillas were also able to capitalize on Northwest's turnovers, scoring 32 points off 24 turnovers. The Bearcats were only able to get 13 points off Pitt State's 16 turnovers.

Lizzy Jeronimus led the Gorillas with a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds. She was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Y'Cedria Devers added eight points and eight rebounds.

Annie Mathews led the Bearcats with 12 points, while Monique Stevens added 10.

Pitt State will travel to Quincy, Ill. for on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
