AUSTIN, Texas - Three members of the 2025-26 Pittsburg State University women's basketball team were announced as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District on Tuesday (Mar. 24).
Harper Schreiner, a 4.00 GPA nursing major,
Clara Swearingen, a 4.00 management major and
Amanda Byrnes, a 3.66 psychology major, were the Gorillas representatives on the All-District team. Schreiner advances to the Academic All-American ballot, where those chosen as Academic All-Americans will be announced on April 14th.
The four-time All-MIAA performer from Eudora, Kan., Schreiner wrapped up her distinguished career with 129 games played (all starts), 1,127 points, 779 rebounds, 494 assists, 190 steals and 102 made three pointers to go with a .809 free throw percentage and .429 shooting percentage from the floor. Named the MIAA "A Game" Schloar-Athlete at the 2026 MIAA Women's Basketball Championship, she was also tabbed onto the MIAA third-team after averaging 10.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game while shooting .831 from the free throw line.
Swearingen, in her first season as a starter finished the season averaging 8.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists a game while knocking down 41 three pointers. The Nevada, Mo., native scored a career-high 20 points in a home win over Angelo State (Nov. 30) and finished the season with 11 games having scored in double figures.
Byrnes, in her first season with the Gorillas after beginning her collegiate career at Metropolitan State University - Denver (MSU - Denver) played in 27 games with a pair of starting assignments. For the season the Brighton, Colo., native averaged 4.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks a game in 12.6 minutes, shooting .568 from the field and .733 from the free throw line.
