HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hay State University used a 17-hit attack to overcome an early 2-0 deficit and post a 14-8 victory over Pittsburg State University in the final game of an MIAA series Friday (Mar. 22) at Larks Park.
The Tigers (13-10, 10-11 MIAA) scored three runs in the second inning and added two runs in both the third and fourth frames to build a 7-2 lead, after falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first.
The Gorillas (12-10, 9-9 MIAA) battled back to make it a 7-4 game in the top of the sixth, but FHSU broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the frame and four more in the seventh to take firm control.
Ryan Bilovesky went 2-for-4 with his team-leading seventh home run, driving in three runs. Ryan Venture scored three runs for the Gorillas.
Pitt State will return to action next Tuesday (Mar. 26) when the Gorillas travel to Edmond, Okla., to face Central Oklahoma.
