PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team's doubleheader with Missouri Southern State University, originally scheduled for Tuesday (Apr. 23), has been pushed back a day due to the threat of local rain showers. The Gorillas and Lions now will meet Wednesday (Apr. 24) with first pitch set for 5 p.m. (CDT) at Al Ortolani Field.

Pitt State will look to halt a four-game losing streak when it faces MSSU. The Gorillas are 23-19 overall and 19-17 in MIAA play, sitting seventh in the conference standings. The Lions are 27-16 overall, 21-14 in the MIAA and fourth in the conference standings.

Pitt State dropped a three-game series to Lindenwood last weekend at St. Charles, Mo. The Gorillas dropped 4-0, 7-2 and 2-1 decision to the Lions. Southern took two of three games over the weekend against Southwest Baptist University.

As a team, Pitt State is batting .318 and scoring 6.8 runs per game, while Southern is hitting .300 and scoring 5.8 runs per game.

The two teams split a pair of games at Joplin, Mo., on Mar. 6 with MSSU taking a 4-1 win in the opener and Pitt State countering with a 5-2 victory in the nightcap.
