Lions Pull Away for 110-90 Win Over Gorillas

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Lane Barlow scored a team-high 18 points to lead seven Missouri Southern State University players in double figures and help spark the Lions to a 110-90 win over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Feb. 22) at the Legett & Platt Athletic Center.

Southern (19-5, 13-4 MIAA) used a 15-2 run in the first four minutes of the second half to break open a seven point game and the Lions steadily expanded the margin to defeat the Gorillas (7-17, 3-14 MIAA).

The Gorillas were able to tie the game at 37 with 2:55 left before intermission, but Southern outscored Pitt State 9-2 to close out the half.

Devon Branch recorded a game-high 28 points for the Gorillas. Jake Bullard and Conner Kjer finished with 12 points while Alex Williams added 11.

Pitt State will return to action Wednesday (Feb. 26) when the Gorillas host Emporia State University at 7:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena.
