PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Joplin, Mo., to take on Missouri Southern State University in a non-conference game Tuesday (Apr. 15). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. (CDT) at Joe Becker Stadium.

Pitt State will bring a 15-26 record into the contest. The Gorillas will look to halt a four-game losing streak after being in an MIAA weekend series at St. Joseph, Mo., by Missouri Western State University.

Southern comes into the contest with a 21-19 record after losing three of four games over the weekend to Northeastern State University.

This will be the 88th all-time between between the Gorillas and the Lions. Southern holds a 54-33 advantage in the series, including a 26-10 mark in games played at Joplin. The Lions defeated the Gorillas, 3-0, in Pittsburg the first time the two squads met on Apr. 1.

The non-conference game will count in the 2013-14 Sonic Trophy Series match-up between the Gorillas and the Lions.
