Live StatisticsPITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will host the University of Missouri-St. Louis in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday (Apr. 9) at Al Ortolani Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CDT).
The Gorillas (13-22) will seek to halt a nine-game losing streak when they take on the Tritons. Pitt State was swept in a four-game MIAA weekend series against Southwest Baptist University in its most recent action. UMSL (13-11) took three of four games over the weekend against William Jewell University.
The Gorillas and Tritons have met 23 times previously, with UMSL holding a 16-7 advantage in the series. The two teams split a twinbill at St. Louis in 2013 with UMSL taking a 3-0 win and Pitt State countering with a 7-2 decision on Apr. 16.
The Gorillas enter Wednesday's action batting .281 as a team and scoring 4.9 runs per game. Pitt State has a 5.81 team ERA. Senior infielder Brad Foss leads the team with a .357 batting average. He has nine doubles and 16 RBIs on the year. Senior outfielder Cody Ball also is hitting .318 with a team-leading 23 runs scored and 26 RBIs.
The Tritons are hitting .259 and scoring 3.3 runs per game on the season. UMSL has a 2.91 team ERA.
