PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Though scores were consistently close, the Southwest Baptist Bearcats got the best of the Gorilla volleyball team on Friday (November 6) night. The Bearcats won 3-1, 25-22. 21-25, 25-22, 25-17.

The Gorillas had a strong night defensively at the net, outblocking the Bearcats 10.0 to 5.5. Southwest Baptist hit at just a bit higher percentage, .187, while putting down 56 kills. Pitt State hit .140 with only 42 kills.

Maggie Highberger led the Gorillas with 13 kills and only four errors to hit .300 for the match. Lauren Regier also hit in double figures with 10 kills. Hayley Hansford recorded a double-double with 20 assists and 13 digs. Taylor Wright led the team with 23 digs. Erin Wolford was the team's top blocker with six total blocks, two solo and four assisted. Highberger added five block assists and Taylor Unke had four.

Pitt State will celebrate its three seniors tomorrow (Nov. 7) on Senior Day against Missouri Southern. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
