PITTSBURG — Sandra Ngoie and Kelly Moten combined for 42 points as third-ranked Emporia State University defeated the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team, 90-69, Saturday (Dec. 19) at John Lance Arena.
The Lady Hornets (9-2, 3-2 MIAA) shot 54.8 percent from the field (34 of 62) and hit 13 3-pointers in the contest. ESU outscored Pitt State (9-2, 3-2 MIAA), 29-18, in the decisive second quarter and then further pulled away with a 22-13 fourth quarter.
Ngoie scored a game-high 22 points and added 10 rebounds as the Lady Hornets outrebounded the Gorillas, 40-24, in the contest. Moten added 20 points, while Kelsey Barnwell (14) and Kathryn Flott (12) also scored in double figures.
Kylie Gafford posted a team-leading 20 points for Pitt State, while Mikaela Burgess added 19 points. Paige Imhoff also finished in double figures with 11 points. The Gorillas shot 43.4 percent from the floor for the game (23 of 53).
