KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lizzy Jeronimus and Mikaela Burgess scored 17 points apiece as third-seeded Pittsburg State University rallied from a 15-point first-half deficit to defeat sixth-seeded University of Central Oklahoma in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Postseason Tournament Friday (Mar. 6).

The Gorillas (26-5) advance to the tournament semifinals to face second-seeded Emporia State University (23-4) at 8:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday (Mar. 7). The Lady Hornets defeated seventh-seeded Missouri Western State University, 77-60, Friday.

Pitt State trailed 30-18 before closing out the first half on a 20-5 run over the final 7:50 of the opening period to take a 38-35 lead at the intermission.

The Gorillas never trailed in the second half, widening their margin to as many as 17 points (65-48) with 6:07 to play.

Antquinita Reed finished the game with 10 points for Pitt State, while Morgan Westhoff added nine and Kyle Gafford chipped in with eight. Jeronimus and Reed shared the team rebounding lead with seven apiece.

Kylie Mayes scored a game-high 22 points for the Bronchos (17-12). Olivia Mason and Marley Anderson added 12 points apiece.
