PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team will close out regular season play with a four-game series against Emporia State University starting Friday (Apr. 24).
The Gorillas and Hornets will face one another in a single game at 2 p.m. (CDT) Friday at Glennen Field in Emporia, before the squads meet in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (Apr. 25). PSU and ESU will close out the series with a single game at Noon Sunday (Apr. 26).
The Gorillas enter the series with a 17-26 overall record and an 11-17 MIAA mark. Pitt State took three of four games from Central Oklahoma last weekend to climb into 11th place in the league standings and stay in contention for a berth into the eight-team MIAA Postseason Tournament.
The Hornets are 31-11 overall, 20-11 in the MIAA and third in the conference standings. ESU has won seven of its last eight games, including taking three of four games in an MIAA series against Fort Hays State last weekend.
