KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team moved to 0-6 on the season with losses to Winona State, 3-0, and Oklahoma Baptist, 3-1, on Friday (September 11) in the first day of the Rockhurst Invitational.

a State by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-8. Pitt State had more kills than the Warriors in the first set, but Winona came back with 20 kills in set two and 17 in set three to hit at a .376 clip for the match, while the Gorillas hit just .093.
Taylor Unke led the team with five kills. Chandler Templin and Erin Wolford each added four. Hayley Hansford, Chandler Templin and Taylor Wright each had five digs.
The first set against Oklahoma Baptist was close, ending in a 25-23 Gorilla loss. The Bison took the second set, 25-17. Pitt state came back to win the third set, 25-23, but found themselves down eight points in the fourth before they were able to score, ending in a 25-14 loss.
Each team had 50 kills in the match and Pitt State outblocked Oklahoma Baptist by one, but had issues with errors, including 10 more attack errors that lead to the loss.
Lexi Fulghum (11) and Lana DaSilva (10) each had double digit kills in the match for the Gorillas. Lauren Regier added eight kills. DaSilva was also strong on the block with four. Taylor Unke and Regier each added three blocks. Ashlen Schwartz led all players with 25 digs. Noelle Dooley added 22 digs.
Pitt State continues Rockhurst Invitational play on Saturday at noon against No. 6 Wayne State and No. 17 Rockhurst at 5 p.m.
