TOPEKA – Despite a five-set match in their first meeting, on their home court, the No. 13 Washburn Ichabods proved a tougher opponent for the Gorillas. The Ichabods won Friday (Nov. 11) night's match in straight sets, each by the score of 25-17.
The Ichabods hit at an impressive .369 clip, while holding Pitt State to just a .131 attack percentage.
Lauren Regier and Maggie Highberger led the Gorillas with 10 kills a piece. Highberger was just short of a double-double with a team-leading nine digs. Zoey Qi led the Gorillas with four block assists and added seven kills. Ashlen Schwartz added eight digs, while Cal VanBuskirk had six to go along with her 33 assists. Taylor Wright added five digs and two kills, as well as the team's only service ace.
The Gorillas will finish the season with a 1 p.m. match at Emporia State on Saturday (November 12).
