Women's Basketball Takes 67-49 Win Over West Alabama

Box Score SAN JUAN, P.R. -- The Pitt State women's basketball team took a 67-49 win over West Alabama in day two of the Division II Puerto Rico Classic on Thanksgiving Day (November 24). 

Pitt State shot .436 from the floor, including an impressive 50 percent (11-for-22) from three-point range. The team had assists on 17 of its 24 made shots overall. 

Mikaela Burgess led three Pitt State players in double figures with 14. Paige Lungwitz added 12 and Shelby Lopez came off the bench to score 11. Burgess and Lopez made three threes a piece. Hadyn Herlocker led the team in both rebounds (7) and assists (8). 

The Gorillas outscored West Alabama 24-6 in the first quarter, helped by five threes from the Pitt State offense. Each team scored 12 points in the second quarter for a 36-18 halftime score. Each team scored 31 in the second half, allowing the Gorillas to hold on to their 18-point win. 

Pitt State will wrap up the tournament tomorrow (Nov. 25) with a 1 p.m. game against Puerto Rico Rio Piedras.
