BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Gorilla Volleyball squad picked up its sixth win of the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-23) win over Southwest Baptist on Friday (November 4) night.Â
The Gorillas took charge from the beginning of the first set, in which they never let the Bearcats score back-to-back points. The Gorilla committed only one hitting error in the opening set. Each of the next two sets was closer, but Pitt State put up 13 kills in set two and 15 in the final set.Â
Pitt State finished the match with a .262 attack percentage, the best of the season. The team also put up 8.0 blocks and committed only a total of 11 hitting errors. They also put down four service aces.Â
Maggie Highberger led the team with 12 kills and added seven digs. Lauren Regier added eight kills and led the tea with six block assists, she also hit at a team-high .400 clip. Noelle Dooley and Zoey Qi each added seven kills. Taylor Unke was second on the team with five block assists. Taylor Wright led the team with 13 digs and two service aces. Ashlen Schwartz added 12 digs and Lauren Maisberger, 11.Â
The Gorillas travel to Joplin, Mo. on Saturday (November 5) for a 5 p.m. match with Missouri Southern.Â
